What geography means to us ?

in this blog, we are going to study and learn geography. so being a geography student of a reputed Indian university I like to shares my knowledge with geography lovers, as we know that the learning is a two-way process so you can also share your ideas & articles in comments. :)

OK let's begin with the Definition of Geography which is one of the oldest of all science and also one of the broadest of all the sciences because geography takes on almost everything that concerns our world.

Definition

 Geography is the study of Earth's People, Places, landscape, environment & the universe.

#some historical facts about geography.

• The first person to use Geography word in the world was =Eratosthenes ( 276 - 194 BC)
• he is also known as the father of geography since he's the person who first coined the term.

Being a broadest of all science it's not very easy to cover such a huge amount of information that's why the field of geography is usually classified into two major components but the dichotomy between physical and human is not a very valid one because nature and human are inseparable elements and should be seen holistically.

1. HUMAN GEOGRAPHY: In human geography, we study the interrelationship between the physical environment and sociocultural environment created by human beings through mutual interaction with each other, like the social and economic differences between different part of the world. it encompasses the human, cultural, social, political & economic aspects.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               
2. PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY:  physical geography focuses on geography as an Earth science, it studies the earth's lithosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, biosphere, (global flora fauna patterns) and how the universe gets its origin?
